Well, yet again, Sony has decided to shaft its loyal customers… why they do is beyond me. Sony has learned well from Sega in the “how to fail miserably at consoles” area. They’ve decided to ELIMINATE OtherOS/Linux support with the new firmware that has been released on April 1, 2010 (i wish this were a bad April Fool’s Joke).

Why HDTV is doomed to fail in Canada
by admin on Mar.12, 2010, under Broadcasting
On August 31, 2011, all full-powered televisions stations, and full-powered repeaters, are supposed to convert from NTSC-M (analog) to ATSC-T (digital), following the United States digital conversion in 2009.
However, the Canadian regulatory body, the CRTC has set out some manditory guidelines that make the digital transition as unappealing and difficult as possible. On top of this, the CRTC laments the situation on no one wanting to convert to digital. These reasons and more will be explained below.

Pope Benedict XVI and Pedophile Priests
by admin on Mar.12, 2010, under News, Religitards
Apparently, corruption in the Catholic Church goes right to the very top of the organization… Pope Benedict has been found to have tried to shelter and protect admitted pedophile priests in his native Germany. This isn’t surprising, coming from a former Nazi Youth member. The excerpt from The American Free Press is below:

Corruption breeds corruption
by admin on Mar.12, 2010, under News
Frankly, I’m not surprised by this stupid move of removing legal accountability and destroying the law. If you are rich or popular, you can claim you are “too busy” to appear in trial, and escape any and all charges. Complete rubbish!
You can read the article here or read my excerpt below:

The Digital Primer
by admin on Mar.11, 2010, under Broadcasting
In 2009, most over-the-air television broadcasts converted from the old analog format of broadcasting to the new digital format of broadcasting. This change affected people in the United States, and in border areas of Mexico and Canada. This primer will explain what happened, why, and how to mitigate it.
The original format was known as “NTSC-M”, for National Television Standards Committee, System M. The NTSC was the standards body formed of various broadcasters, television manufacturers, and other firms that agreed upon the standards for broadcasting in NTSC-M format. This was first standardized in 1946, and was altered slightly throughout the years, such as 1953 (to allow for colour broadcasts while remaining backwards-compatible with older black-and-white sets), allowing the UHF spectrum (channels 14-83, in 1964), and for stereo broadcasts (in 1985).
The digital conversion was similar to these previous incremental steps in improvement, but is more drastic.

State of Lylat – A System-Wide Address
by admin on Feb.08, 2010, under Animation, Video Games
Because of the sheer severity of the news surrounding Star Fox, I’ve decided to break it up into three main segments: Shigeru Miyamoto, and Dylan Cuthbert, and The Webmaster’s Spin.

StarFox Wii – The Wishlist
by admin on Feb.08, 2010, under Animation, Video Games
In September of 2009, a staff member at Nintendo had admitted a “Star Fox game for the Wii” was in the works, but declined to further comment on it, as it was still early in development.
It’s been about three and a half years since Star Fox: Command (Nintendo DS) was released (in 2006). Since fans are disappointed with the long wates between games and the percieved decline in quality of each game (along with the increasingly confusing timelines with the games after Star Fox 64), some have even made their own fan games (Shadows of Lylat and Project Kursed are the two largest examples).
Although Star Fox game has a rather long wait in between each game, it’s only natural that Fox McCloud would eventually fly his Arwing right into our homes on the Wii. This little essay is my “wish-list” for a Star Fox video game on the Nintendo Wii.

1993: Year of the Furries
by admin on Feb.08, 2010, under Animation, Video Games
The Rise and Fall of Animation in North America over the past 30 years has seen truly stunning highs, and embarrassing lows, all of which will be explained in this thesis.
Success and Progress always have their price, it is said. Innovation is something that we will never run out of, and never MUST run out of, if we are to remain successful. Animation has always been a tricky business, to appeal to wide audiences, without looking childish or shocking.
As discussed in the Cancellation of SatAM Sonic article, animation was on the decline before the industry decided to reorganize themselves and attempt to make quality art again.
